In English, I enjoy reading into a text and finding deeper meanings to better understand the writer’s intentions and message. I am a first-year Mathematics and Statistics student at the University of Warwick. I have been living in the UK for the past five years, where I completed my GCSEs and A Levels while born and raised in Hong Kong. I studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at A Level, giving me recent first-hand experience to understand the challenges that student face. What makes me stand out as a tutor is my ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and approachable way and try to spark their interest in the subjects. My goal is to explain concepts methodically to allow students to understand and build confidence in the subject. My aim is to ensure that students grasp the reasoning behind each method while developing the fluency needed to apply their knowledge when required. I will try to tailor my lessons to each student's individual goals through encouragement, critical thinking while most importantly developing independent study habits that will benefit them throughout their education. In addition, my experience volunteering to teach mathematics to primary school students has shown me the importance of patience, encouragement, and building mutual trust. I have a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Materials Science) at the University of Cambridge, ranking in the top third of my cohort last year. I have tutored at the secondary-level, and have since offered Oxbridge admission prep (ESAT, interview). I teach GCSE and KS3 chemistry & maths. I am currently working as a teaching assistant at a secondary school. During university I have held internships and voluntary roles as an academic representative, college representative, research assistant at a pharmaceuticals company, and web developer creating educational resources for undergraduate materials science, along with a breadth of research projects and other coursework. I draw on all this experience in lessons to make science and maths relevant and fun!
