Hi, I’m Safoora, currently a third-year medical student with a strong passion for education across a range of subjects. Medicine has taught me not just the importance of hard work, but also how to communicate complex ideas clearly and patiently — skills I bring into my tutoring sessions. I tutor GCSE Biology, chemistry, combined science and psychology, as well as KS3 and KS2 Science. I understand that subjects like biology and chemistry can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into manageable, straightforward steps tailored to how each student learns best. Hello! My name is Ria, and I am a Chemical Engineering graduate with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where I completed my degree in November 2025. I am passionate about education and enjoy helping students build confidence in their abilities. While I primarily tutor Mathematics, I can also assist with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I am comfortable teaching learners from Grade R through Grade 12, although I particularly enjoy working with younger students between the ages of 6 and 12, as this is such an important stage for building strong academic foundations. Throughout my academic journey, I have informally tutored family members, friends, and classmates from high school through to university level. These experiences taught me that every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my teaching style to suit each individual learner. I strive to create a calm, patient, supportive, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop confidence, curiosity, and a positive attitude towards learning. My academic journey has been shaped by a strong passion for mathematics, science, and problem-solving. I graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa in November 2025. Throughout my studies, I developed a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, process engineering, and analytical thinking, while also learning how to approach complex problems in a logical and structured manner. Chemical engineering is a challenging and multidisciplinary field that combines scientific principles with practical problem-solving to design and improve industrial processes. During my degree, I studied a wide range of subjects, including advanced mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, process control, and process design. These subjects strengthened both my technical knowledge and my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. One of the most rewarding aspects of my academic career was participating in research and design projects. I worked on a biogas enrichment research project that focused on improving the methane content of biogas through water scrubbing techniques. This project involved laboratory work, experimental design, data analysis, and technical presentations. Through this experience, I developed strong analytical, research, and communication skills while gaining hands-on laboratory experience. In addition, I completed several engineering design projects involving distillation design, reactor design, process simulation, process optimisation, and process control. These projects required the use of engineering software and the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. They also strengthened my teamwork, problem-solving, and project management abilities. Throughout my academic journey, I have regularly assisted family members, friends, and classmates with their studies, ranging from school-level mathematics and science to university-level engineering concepts. These experiences helped me develop a patient and adaptable teaching style and reinforced my passion for education. My academic background has equipped me with not only strong technical knowledge but also the ability to explain concepts in a clear, engaging, and accessible way. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in their abilities, develop strong foundations in their subjects, and achieve their academic goals.

I have been tutoring with GoStudent for almost a year now, having formerly worked at museums, churches and summer camps. I enjoy working with children and am a current Sunday-School teacher and former volunteer with several youth charities. I also have two years of classroom experience with Years 2 and 3, but am happy to work with children of any age, teaching English, Maths, History, Latin, and RE. Please note I do not take adult learners at this time. I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge with a first-class degree in History, also having taken papers in Classics and Theology. I won several prizes during my degree, including three prize scholarships and the Roy Porter Prize for History in my second year. Prior to my degree, I took three A-Levels in History, Maths and English, receiving all A*s, and prior to that, ten GCSEs, receiving all 9s.
