Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

I'm a dedicated and patient tutor with a strong passion for helping students build confidence and achieve academic success. I have achieved high grades in both GCSEs and A-levels, and have worked with a range of students. Whether a student needs help preparing for exams, catching up in class, or wants to get ahead, I focus on creating a positive and supportive learning environment. My goal is to help students improve their grades while also inspiring curiosity and helping them form strategies for success. 100% of my students so far have seen an improvement of at least one grade, with many moving up many grades. I have completed both my GCSEs and A-Levels in the UK, achieving strong results across a range of academic subjects. At GCSE level, I studied core subjects including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, and the Sciences, along with Citizenship, Geography, French and RE, which gave me a well-rounded academic foundation. For A-Levels, I chose to pursue Biology, English Literature and Politics, which not only deepened my subject knowledge but also developed my analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. I am studying law at university.

The medical condition resulted in their inability to remember or write. I have 10+ years of teaching experience at school level, academies and online classes. To help my students out with their queries and bringing them out of grey zones is my utmost priority. My hobbies include working out, football and research. I believe that physical activity is very important for our mental health and it also helps us in making better decisions. On the other hand, I am constantly trying to research new studies and theories as learning is not restricted to a certain age group rather it is for all of us until we can still breathe. I’m a 19-year-old recent sixth form graduate (2025) who studied A-level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. I’m passionate about teaching and helping students build confidence in their learning. I currently study Medicine abroad and enjoy supporting others to reach their academic goals. I completed my A-levels in 2025, studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology, and was fortunate to gain a place to study Medicine, which I am currently pursuing abroad. At GCSE, I studied Triple Science, Classics, DT, Geography and Spanish. I really enjoy education and look forward to helping others achieve success in their studies.
